How it all began

Hopelessly and unequivocally yours

Charmaine & Sam

The emotionally intelligent person knows that love is a skill, not a feeling, and will require trust, vulnerability, generosity, humor; understanding and resignation. The emotionally intelligent person awards themselves the time to determine what gives their life meaning and has the confidence and tenacity to try to find an accommodation between their inner priorities and the demands of the world. The emotionally intelligent person knows how to hope and be grateful, while remaining steadfast before the essentially tragic structure of existence.

We met at Mr. Purple October 2018, just steps away from Sam’s Lower East Side Apartment in NYC. Charmaine and a friend had shown up to Mr. Purple with costumes straight off the playa (burning man) for a Halloween costume contest later that night.

Sam and Charmaine hit it off and one of the first moments, Charmaine called Sam a “hipster” to which he responded, “no I’m not” to which she responded, “that’s exactly what a hipster would say.” Charmaine and her friend left late to their costume contest (hosted by the Knocks at Public hotel) because Sam and Charmaine were talking for too long. Both infatuated and leaving wanting more. They exchanged numbers and Charmaine and her friend left for the party. This would be the meet-cute Charmaine and Sam would share to their friends in NYC.

Over the course of their time in NYC, they’ve traveled to Montreal, Greece, France (of course)-Paris, Nice, Cannes, Provence, and family trips to India (where Sam met Charmaine’s father for the first time on a 3 week trip to India which they spent the entire time talking about Mathematics, Politics and Philosophy to a point we had to separate them because they were boring the group), Portugal, New England coast and now the California Coast.

After a year (and during Covid), Sam and Charmaine adopted Russ their French Bulldog named after a Lower East Side Jewish delicatessen, Russ & Daughters.

They shared many lovely memories in NYC and recently in April moved to San Francisco together.

Do not stumble your way into the sublime

The loving-kind person knows that they will only ever be strong and healthy in a few areas and at certain moments, but is committed to fathoming their inadequacies and warning others of them in good time, with apology and charm
